From August 25th to 27th, Embassy Suites in Concord will host this bone-chilling event that guarantees a thrilling journey for both horror enthusiasts and those seeking an adrenaline rush.

While the Mad Monster Expo is in its third year, the roots of this eerie celebration trace back over a decade. Run by true horror enthusiasts, this event is more than a convention; it’s a celebration of the horror community itself.

Individual day tickets and three-day passes are available with prices starting at $35. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. A nightly after-party is included with Friday and Saturday admission. Plan ahead and secure your tickets online, because the spooky twist is that prices go up at the door.

  • One of the key draws is the opportunity to interact with major genre celebrities on a personal level. Where else can you meet the likes of Rose McGowan from Scream, Doug Bradley, the iconic “Pinhead” from Hellraiser, and Heather Langenkamp & Amanda Wyss from A Nightmare on Elm Street?

One of this year’s highlights is the appearance of Kathryn Leigh Scott, a television and film actress and accomplished writer. Kathryn is best remembered for her groundbreaking roles on the cult classic Dark Shadows, a Gothic daytime drama that captivated audiences from 1966 to 1971. Her versatility as an actress shone through as she played four different roles in the series: Maggie Evans, Josette du Pres, Lady Kitty Hampshire, and Rachel Drummond.

Kathryn’s star power extended to the big screen, where she took on the lead role in the 1970 MGM feature House of Dark Shadows. Kathryn’s passion for the industry and her immense talent have made her a beloved figure among horror enthusiasts.

  • “The Dark Shadows actors used to attend annual festivals, which ended with our 50th anniversary. I still love meeting fans personally, and Mad Monster is one great opportunity to do so. Dark Shadows fans are always so interesting to get to know! And it’s fun to hear a fan talk about a favorite moment from one of our 1,265 episodes that I barely remember doing! Please stop by and say hello . . .. I don’t bite!” Kathryn Leigh Scott

This Expo thrives on scares, but it also offers opportunities to learn more about the educational aspects of the horror industry. Attendees can participate in workshops and informative discussions that provide a glimpse behind the scenes of the movie magic.

  • “Mad Monster works really hard at making these events fun, informative, and memorable,” said Peter Morton, Social Media and Brand Management, Mad Monster. “We are all fans ourselves and our events are always geared towards the fan experience. This really is a show like no other, which allows the fans to interact with major genre celebrities on an intimate level. Plus, fans can pick up treasures from an incredible lineup of unique vendors. The Expo will also offer tutorials and informative workshops for people interested in what happens behind the scenes in the movie industry.”

The Expo also boasts a sprawling marketplace with over 100 vendors, offering an eclectic array of horror-themed merchandise. From classic horror movie memorabilia to unique collectibles and even spine-chilling wearables, attendees can find treasures that cater to their darkest desires. With Halloween just around the corner, it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on spooky goodies.

  • At this year’s Expo they will have legend Kane Hodder (Jason from Friday the 13th VII-X) offering two fantastic in costume ops.

There are also parties and after parties, shows, and contests. There really is a little something for everyone. The Mad Monster original “Scareoke” has become a fixture at Mad Monster events where you can screech out your favorite song over a few drinks.

At the core of the Mad Monster Expo’s success are the fans themselves. The horror community is a tight-knit and welcoming group, and their passion contributes to the vibrant atmosphere of the event. Attendees have the chance to forge new friendships, share their love for the genre, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re a seasoned convention-goer or a first-timer, the Expo promises a family-friendly and exhilarating adventure into the heart of horror.
