About Face Opening Reception

Experience a captivating evening at the Cabarrus Arts Council on Friday, Feb 23rd from 5pm-7pm for the opening of “About Face”. This unique exhibition challenges the traditional perceptions of beauty, asking vital questions: What if societal beauty standards are exclusive and narrow-minded? How does this affect individuals who find themselves outside these norms? “About Face” seeks to redefine beauty, moving beyond the dominant cultural narratives. Through the art of mask-making and portraits, we explore the beauty in diversity – from the varied shades of our skin, from light tan to rich mahogany to the unique beauty of full lips and diverse hairstyles, from tight, kinky coils to flowing locs and braids. Join us in celebrating true beauty in all its forms and colors, challenging the norms, and embracing diversity.
