Starting at 9am, the OneBlood Big Red Bus will be parked at Kannapolis City Hall. They’re inviting anyone willing and able to step up and give the incredible gift of life by donating blood. If you’re interested, appointments are highly encouraged, and you can schedule yours here.

Support the Food Drive

From noon until 6pm, the Kannapolis Fire Department welcomes you to meet their firefighters as you drop off canned food donations at Kannapolis City Hall.

  • The most-needed items include canned meats, peanut butter, jelly, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, canned fruit, pork-n-beans, and pudding cups.

Your contributions will be delivered to the Cooperative Christian Ministry, where they will be distributed locally to those who require assistance. Last year they collected over 1400 lbs. of canned goods!

“The Kannapolis Fire Department realized that there are food insecurities in our City and wanted to find a way to give back,” said Kirk Beard, Deputy Fire Chief. β€œWorking with CCM to try and help offset some of these needs is very rewarding to us. Seeing kids and adults happily filling a fire truck with food is a great way for us to interact with our citizens and makes for a great day!”

Fire Truck Parade Spectacle

The highlight of the day is the much-anticipated Fire Truck Parade, which begins at 6pm. The parade route stretches along Laureate Way and N. Research Campus Drive, right between City Hall and the North Carolina Research Campus.

  • Bring your lawn chairs, gather your family and friends, and enjoy the spectacle as fire trucks, both old and new, from departments throughout the region roll by.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the hard work and dedication of our local firefighters while having a great time.
