Owners, Dawon Millwood and Kelsey Babos fell head over heels for Concord when they moved here in 2021. They especially loved the friendly vibe of downtown and the sense of community they found here.

Having traveled far and wide, they developed a deep appreciation for the diverse world of beer and wine. They even hosted tasting events in their own home, but they dreamed of sharing their passion with the wider community.

  • When the perfect location became available, they knew it was time to turn their dream into reality.

And thank goodness they did! Because now we have Local BS right in the heart of downtown Concord. Offering an incredible selection of beer and wine by the glass, as well as cans and bottles to-go, Local BS has something for everyone.

What You’ll Find on Tap at Local BS

With 20 rotating taps and over 100 different varieties of beer, wine, ciders, seltzers, and more, you’ll have a hard time choosing just one. But that’s not all…they also serve up delicious mimosas and ready-to-drink cocktails. And for those looking for something non-alcoholic, they have Kombucha and a selection of kid-friendly sodas.

But Local BS isn’t just about the drinks…it’s about the experience. They plan to host guided beer and wine tastings and pairings, as well as weekly events like live music, trivia, and music bingo. And the best part? You can bring in food from any of the local downtown Concord restaurants to enjoy while you sip and socialize.

And speaking of socializing, Local BS is all about bringing people together. That’s why they’ve made sure their space is family and dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friend along for the fun!

Opening Shop in a Historic Location

Now, let’s talk about the shop itself. You see, Local BS isn’t just any old storefront. It’s housed in the former Paramount Theatre, a beloved community gathering place that dates back decades.

According to the Cinema Treasures website, “the Paramount Theatre in Concord, N.C. was the place to see action serials of the day such as, “Dick Tracy vs. Crime Inc.,” “Spy Smashers,” and “Perils of Nyoka.” Tex Ritter the singing cowboy and western star since 1936 would become a regular vistor dropping by to say “howdy” to his Concord friends at the Paramount Theatre anytime he was booked nearby.”

The owners have renovated the space, transforming it into a funky and inviting spot that pays homage to its rich history.

  • Think cozy seating, a beautiful bar, and a fun mural adorning one wall. Plus, the ornate ceiling adds an extra touch of charm, making it the perfect spot to relax and unwind with friends.
