Cabarrus Weekly was invited to get a sneak peek of Slim Chickens last weekend, and let us tell you, we were thoroughly impressed!
Concord is getting a flavorful new addition to its dining scene with the grand opening of Slim Chickens. The driving force behind this exciting new venture is Break Bread Ventures, led by Jonathan Crumpler and Rob Bryan. Jonathan and Bryan came together with a vision to build something meaningful and make a difference in people’s lives.
- They said Concord’s proximity to Charlotte and its rapid growth and development made it an attractive choice. Additionally, Rob Bryan’s existing relationships in Cabarrus County played a significant role in the decision.
A Journey Unfolds With a Vision for Impact
Break Bread Ventures has a deep-rooted desire to “build something and make an impact.” The company’s desire is to “develop, encourage, and support people,” with a primary focus on serving both their employees and communities. This dedication to personal and communal growth is a driving force behind their venture.
This vision led them to Slim Chickens, and their journey began in January, with their first franchise development agreement. Their ambitious plan includes opening 30 Slim Chickens restaurants across 46 counties in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The first of these locations, on Prosperity Ridge Road, opened in 2022, and they have already completed six of the planned 30 locations.
- Their commitment to quality is evident from the outset, with 100% all-natural premium tenders forming the foundation of their entire menu. These tenders are marinated in a southern-style buttermilk marinade, then hand-breaded with care for every order.
A Slim Peek at the Menu
Slim Chickens doesn’t just serve food; they serve an experience, and it’s a delicious one at that! We had the opportunity to sample a handful of items from their menu during their sneak peek event.
During our visit, we tried a number of items from their menu including the Slim’s Wrap. It consisted of Slim Chickens’ iconic tenders, encased in a spinach tortilla, and accompanied by crisp lettuce, farm-fresh tomatoes, and their homemade ranch dressing. And then there were the fries, hot and crispy, served with a side of their house-made ranch dressing. The combination of the golden, perfectly fried fries and that rich, creamy ranch sauce was pure perfection.
What you don’t normally find at fast-casual chicken restaurants is chicken and waffles and this entrée was delicious! A perfectly baked waffle with three large pieces of chicken topped with butter and syrup was definitely a CW favorite.
We also enjoyed the lighter salad option which was a large portion of fresh lettuce, and vegetables, topped with crispy onion strings and chicken.
In the Ever-Growing World of Delicious Chicken Options, What Makes Slim Chickens Stand Out?
Slim Chickens’ menu is diverse and fresh, catering to a wide range of tastes. They pride themselves on providing a variety of choices and customization options to cater to everyone’s preferences, including healthier alternatives. With 17 handmade sauces to choose from, you can personalize your meal to your heart’s content.
Among the menu favorites, the chicken and waffles are a must-try, offering the perfect blend of savory and sweet. For a unique and indulgent experience, consider the Tender Mac, featuring a classic three-cheese blend with chopped hand-breaded tenders and shredded Cheddar Jack cheese. Like a spicy kick? The Buffalo Mac is a winning choice with spicy Buffalo and Cayenne Ranch sauces, Cheddar Jack cheese, and green onions.
For dessert lovers, Slim Chickens offers a unique treat with their seasonal jar desserts. Fall brings the warm and comforting flavors of Pumpkin and Pecan cheesecakes, both served in reusable mason jars, perfect for sharing or indulging on your own.
