March in Cabarrus County means one thing for burger lovers: Cabarrus Burger Madness! This annual celebration, hosted by Explore Cabarrus, brings together local restaurants to showcase their specialty burger creations throughout the month.
From March 1st to 31st, diners can sample the unique burgers and cast their votes for their favorite.
Fun Fact: Burger Madness attracted diners from 5 states during its fourth year of competition, with participating restaurants selling a combined total of nearly 4,000 specialty burgers during the month of March.
This year, The Eatery at Southern Strain Brewing Company claimed the top spot with their mouthwatering “Life’s Gouda With Bacon Burger.” With gratitude, they extend thanks to all who participated, voted, and checked in during the competition. “As a newer kitchen, we are humbled and grateful for this win! Thanks to everyone who enjoyed the burger, voted (& checked in)! We couldn’t ask for a better kitchen staff to create and pump out these tasty burgers last month!! Rock on kitchen gang!”
This year’s Cabarrus Burger Madness was particularly thrilling as it ended in a tie between Southern Strain Brewing Company and 2 Gals Kitchen. However, in a true display of sportsmanship, the winner was determined based on the most check-ins, securing Southern Strain’s victory.
For those who missed out on the winning burger, fear not! The winning burger is now a permanent fixture on the menu. Consisting of double smash patties, house-made bacon jam, crispy bacon slices, and melted smoked gouda, carefully balanced on a toasted brioche bun with a hint of roasted garlic aioli. Fresh red onion slices and pickles complement the mouth-watering burger.
